Balance Diet

I went to medical check up few days ago but the doctor told me the result that is not so good for my health. My blood pressure level is 133 which is a little high than normal rate(130). What's more, my cholesterol level is also higher than normal level. I didn't know why since everything is okay for me before enter the university. Honestly, I'm worry because I'm still too young to get those chronic deceases. However, the doctor told me that I wouldn't get these deceases if I control my daily diet. It's a good news for me.

What is balance diet?
Eating a balanced diet means choosing a wide variety of foods and drinks from all the food groups. It also means eating certain things in moderation, namely saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, refined sugar, salt and alcohol. The goal is to take in nutrients you need for health at the recommended levels.

As what we can see on the plate above, the food that we should consume the most is fruits and vegetables and then following by bread, other cereal and potatoes. The least food that we can consume is foods containing high level of fat and sugar which can leads to heart attack and diabetics.

There are some sample meals below.

Sample Meals

A high nutrient-dense lunch would look something like this:
2 slices whole wheat bread
Deli turkey
1 slice roasted red pepper
romaine lettuce
1 tsp mayonnaise
baby carrots
hummus
8 oz non-fat milk
A low nutrient-dense lunch would look something like this:
One ground beef hamburger patty
Two hamburger buns
Iceberg lettuce
1 tbsp mayonnaise
1 slice American cheese
Order of French fries, fried in peanut oil
Large regular soda
Candy bar
